Our Shop ANNDRUM: Crafts from Åland

My Name is Ann Gustafsson. I am what was once called the “mistress” of this farm. Having worked as a podiatric consultant specialising in repetitive strain injuries and diabetes complications, I decided to change profession and began to study full time at the Art and Crafts program at Ålands Folkhögskola.

Since I had been doing crafts in various ways my entire life, my year at “Folkis” turned out to be something of an epiphany for me, causing all the pieces to fall into place. It also became the starting point of my wonderful studio and shop where I refine the wool and skins our lovely sheep produce. I balance my work with watercolours in the shape of paintings and small cards as well as stoneware sculptures. Furthermore, I do textile prints on coloured linen, towels, tablecloths and runners.

However, most of our business centres around yarn. This year more than half a ton of yarn was produced on our farm. As a result we can offer yarn in a variety of different colours and densities.

Visit ANNDRUM and be inspired! There is always something to discuss when it comes to yarn, knitting, crocheting and weaving.

In order for everyone to find something they like in ANNDRUM, the shop also provides crafts by other artists. Today, I am proud to offer a selection of high quality crafts by all local craftsmen and -women.

In fact, the only thing not from Åland to be found in the shop are sheepskins from Gotland. Gotlandic sheepskins are THE most popular sheepskins used in interior decorating, which is why I always have a few sheepskins from Bioskinn. As a matter of fact, I myself have studied for Eva Samuelsson who owns Bioskinn, and I am very proud to be able to say that I collaborate with one of Sweden’s leading experts on sheepskins.
