Local Produce Equals The food industry today is full of products that consumers usually do not really know the origin of. Additives and preservatives abound. A lot of these preservatives and stabilisers disagree with the mum in our family, Ann. Since some “common” foodstuffs can be downright dangerous, we usually need to know exactly what our food contains.
Based on this, we feel the right thing to do is to produce and sell meat containing no additives whatsoever. Furthermore, the fact that our animals are excellent conservationists only increases the benefits of our meat. We use a truck the animals are used to transport them to a slaughterhouse only a few kilometres away. The meat is then brought back to the farm and cut up in order to either be sold in our shop or cooked in our kitchen and served as delicate meals in our restaurant.
Thanks to our grazing animals, the fauna has increased considerably. Flowers and herbs we have not seen in years appear as if by magic.
Making Our Farm Suitable for the Disabled Is a Matter of Course Since one of the girls in our family is disabled, we have, over the years, learned the importance of adapting rooms in order for everyone to get around. For this reason both Stensalen and Källarkrogen are completely adapted for the disabled and our shop ANNDRUM has movable ramps.
We work together with several disability organizations on Åland, for instance, all our printed textiles are hemmed by Fixtjänst – a collaboration appreciated by both parties. |
